Funny Tractor Photos That Prove Farming Isn't Always Easy

Lauren Christina
Published 3 months ago
Most people won't ever get the chance to drive a tractor. That privilege is reserved for farmers and those living that rustic, agricultural lifestyle. But, if anything, that's what makes them even more interesting! They're not quite trucks, they're definitely not trailers, and they have a slight resemblance to bulldozers, but that doesn't stop people from wanting to jump up into the tractor cabin and drive around the fields for days. And we can only assume that's what happened here. Surely a proper farmer couldn't mess up this bad?

You Can't Park There

Let's be honest; some people really struggle with parking. Whether it's parallel parking or just trying to park within the lines, parking in a normal car can be difficult. So, we actually don't blame this farmer for picking up parking in a tractor a little slower than other people. Accidents happen when you're driving a giant multi-ton vehicle. It's just a shame this accident happened right by someone's beloved and lovely home.
You Can't Park There

In fact, let's give this farmer a little bit of credit. The wheels are all facing the same way, and it looks like they did a good job of parking and controlling the tractor! They just parked in the wrong place, that's all.

Going for a Swim

Farmers need vacations, too, you know! When they spend their days surrounded by agriculture and herding trailers full of animals, they probably need a break from the smell of manure and the daily grind. So, why shouldn't they go on vacation to the beach? Although we do have a feeling that this farmer probably hadn't been on vacation in a while, which is probably why they forgot standard beach etiquette.
Going for a Swim
www.facebook.com
Yes, the unwritten rule is that you should never take your tractor and trailer to the beach - especially if you want to go for a little swim. Let's hope this tractor has its waterproof tires on.

"Look Mom, No Hands"

You probably don't need us to tell you that tractors are in a league of their own in the vehicle realm. Sure, cars can drive through tunnels and bulldozers can tunnel through the ground, but did you know that tractors actually have some impressive climbing abilities? The person driving this tractor obviously wanted to show them off, so they whipped out the move they had been working on for weeks: the "look mom, no hands" move!
"Look Mom, No Hands"
m.youtube.com
When you take a closer look, this feat of climbing engineering is pretty special. We do worry about the crash landing its going to have to have when it comes back down to earth, though.

Three's a Crowd

When you work in the agricultural industry, you have to have backup on your side. After all, you never know when you're going to experience a heavy downpour on the farm - and everyone knows that wet mud and multi-ton tractors aren't a good mix. But what happens when your backup fails to rescue you when you get stuck in the mud? And then what happens when the backup to your backup then gets stuck in the mud, too?
Three's a Crowd
www.youtube.com
They say that three is a crowd, and in this situation, three tractors stuck in the mud is three too many. At least there's another piece of heavy machinery there to help them out.

Moving on up

Most people know that stairs and wheels don't mix. That's why cars have to go down gently sloping hills and bridges, and that's why people on bicycles have to find alternative ways down the stairs. But we guess that didn't stop this tractor driver from having a go and seeing if they could break the mold. They tried to get down the stairs, forgetting that gravity exists - especially on a very heavy tractor!
Moving on up
m.youtube.com
The end result is one that's so bad it's almost impressive. And considering they fell down the stairs at a junction, we have no idea how they would have gotten this free.

In Deep Water

We've all heard the phrase 'we're in deep water,' right? Well, if you didn't quite understand this phrase before, let us enlighten you. All you have to do is stare at this picture and realize that this tractor is in the deepest of waters! Not only in a literal way, but also in a metaphorical way - because we have a feeling that water-damaged tractors aren't exactly cheap to fix.
In Deep Water
www.agriexpo.online
The two people standing at the edge of the water seem to be clueless as to how to help this tractor, too, and we really don't blame them. You can't exactly pull a tractor out with your bare hands.

Sweeping Things up

We've gotta keep the streets clean, people. And if the tractors with wtich-like brooms attached to the back of them aren't going to do it, who is? In all seriousness, let's give some serious props to this tractor driver. We can't imagine that the agriculture lifestyle is easy, and we bet they work long days and tough hours getting stuck in the farming industry. But they still made time to keep the streets clean.
Sweeping Things up
m.facebook.com
You've got to admire the engineering, too. We don't know how they did it, but they managed to get these brooms circling around the back of the tractor! That's very efficient.

Caught in a Tractor Trap

If we're being totally honest, we don't really know what's going on here, and we have so many questions. How many tractors are down there? How did they get down there? And why are they all tangled up? But more than anything, we want to know how they're going to get themselves out of this situation. Those heavy vehicles look pretty caught up, and not to mention the fact that they've fallen off a bridge and into water.
Caught in a Tractor Trap
www.youtube.com
We know tractors probably aren't easy to drive, but these farmers need to be a little more careful. After all, they probably had to sacrifice these tractors to the tractor graveyard after this.

Going Underground

Well, this isn't something you see every day. Although tractors are designed to travel over the ground, it seems as though this farmer wanted to try something different. Perhaps they were even using their tractor as a metal detector and found something underneath the mud that interested them! Either way, they obviously made the choice to dig into the ground - not realizing that the whole tractor would follow them in the process.
Going Underground
www.yesterdaystractors.com
What makes this situation even more confusing is the fact that the mud actually looks dry, which means that this tractor has been a while. And suggests there's no hope in pulling it out.

Close Enough

Just because you work in the world of agriculture doesn't mean that you can't have nice things. And while this farmer obviously loves their designer labels, they couldn't quite find enough cash in their pot to scrimp for a high-profile tractor. That didn't stop them from at least pretending they had a BMW tractor, though. In fact, this farmer has a one-of-a-kind, as BMW doesn't even make tractors!

Close Enough
www.facebook.com
We can't help but wonder if they've done the same to their bulldozer, trailer, and their digger. You've got to have a full set, right? Go big or go home, after all.

Falling at the First Hurdle

While there are many tractors that work within the agriculture realm, there are also many tractors that are used in the realm of construction. And there are two here! We can't help but think that the one furthest away in this image was second on the scene, though. And they were probably called in to help when the first one got a little confused with its task and dug itself rather than the ground.
Falling at the First Hurdle
planswift.com
What's so funny, though, is the fact that the construction workers haven't even tried to dig it back up. We guess the old tractor just belongs to the ground, now.

Watch Out!

Movies such as Final Destination have probably made you wary of driving behind a truck filled with tree logs, but we have a feeling that this image will make you wary of driving behind a tractor! Although these vehicles are incredibly sturdy, their big wheels can crush a car in seconds - especially when they come off in the middle of the road. And that's exactly what happened on this occasion.
Watch Out!
m.youtube.com
It's amazing that this was caught on camera, and what's even more amazing is how far that tire has traveled on its own accord! Let's hope everyone managed to get out of the way.

"Leave Me Alone, Mom"

If you thought you had problems with an overbearing mom, that's nothing compared to this tiny tractor and its mom! Of course, we're totally kidding with you. Although it might seem as though this was a very impressive accident, it was instead brought to life by the farmer who just didn't feel ready to send his tractor to the tractor graveyard. And we have to say that we absolutely love this idea.
"Leave Me Alone, Mom"
m.youtube.com
It's pretty cute, right? It looks like the bigger tractor is chasing the smaller tractor, and you can just tell that the smaller tractor is a teenager going through its rebellious phase.

Ready for Market

Okay, can someone call 911? We're used to farmers pulling trailers of farmyard animals in their tractors, but these don't look like farmyard animals to us! So, they're either being held against their will, or they willingly jumped into this cage to be taken to market... but not to be sold! Let's just hope that they decided to hitch a ride so they could buy some local produce for their dinner.
Ready for Market
www.yesterdaystractors.com
Thankfully, these women don't seem too distressed to be in a cage, which suggests that they did willingly get into it. But if that's not the case, blink twice, ladies!

What's Happened Here?

We don't quite know where to start here? Sure, we understand that we're not tractor experts, but the last time we checked, a tractor was supposed to be in one piece and not crushed into several pieces on the floor. Not only is this tractor missing a wheel, but it also looks as though it's been crushed by something even bigger than itself. But what's even bigger than a tractor?
What's Happened Here?
www.tumblr.com
We can only assume that this tractor was hit by a falling meteorite or was crushed by a mutant cow that had been born on the farm. They're the only logical explanations.

Stay off the Tracks

If you see yourself as somewhat of an amateur detective, we'd like your help with this one - because we're not sure what's happened here. Ultimately, we have a tractor sitting by the side of train tracks. But this isn't just any old tractor. While the front of the tractor looks to be in fairly good form, the back of the tractor has somehow been ripped from it. But how?
Stay off the Tracks
www.accidents.co.za
Although we'd hate to think this was the case, the close proximity to the train tracks is giving us the heebie-jeebies here. Is that really what happened? We hope not.

A High Rider

Petrol heads are always modifying their cars to make them lower or boosting up their trucks to make them higher, so why can't a farmer do that with his ride-along mower? Sure, it might not be the coolest vehicle in the world - but we guess that's exactly why he decided to make some adjustments and make it as cool as it could possibly be. And you have to admire the mechanics here.

If you're just as impressed as we are, you'll be happy to know that this pimped-up tractor is actually for sale! So, place your bets because it's going to the highest bigger.

A Stroke of Genius

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you weren't quite sure how to get yourself out of it? Well, next time you do, go and find yourself a farmer. These guys are the most genius minds out there, and they'll find a solution to everything - even if it's not 100% safe or recommended. And if you don't believe us, just check out this epic situation right here.
A Stroke of Genius
www.reddit.com
Unable to find a handheld hedge trimmer, these guys decided to put their heads together to come up with a solution. And that solution included a trailer, a crane, a ride-along mower, and some straps.

Time's of the Essence

A farmer's work is never done, you know. And while they do everything they can to the best of their ability, sometimes an extra strong coffee just isn't enough of a boost they need to get all of the agriculture jobs completed before the end of the day. Fed up with being overworked and not finishing their tasks, this farmer decided to soup up their tractor to help them out, instead.
Time's of the Essence

We're not sure what kind of horsepower that tractor is packing, but it looks like a lean, mean ploughing machine. Although, the front wheels do look a little too small.

Lock It Down

If you ever find yourself in the position where you're transporting something on a trailer, here's a friendly reminder to always lock it down to make sure it doesn't move during transit. And here's another friendly reminder: triple-check if the thing you're transporting is a multi-ton tractor! This hilarious tractor fail is what happens when people don't do that, and we bet the tractor and the car suffered the consequences.
Lock It Down
www.youtube.com
Although the transporter put the handbrake on the tractor, that just wasn't enough to stop it from sliding off mid-journey. And we have a feeling someone got fired for this little boo-boo.

Oh, the Irony

A snow plough is basically a bulldozer, but for snow - and this particular snow plough was specifically designed to sweep away all of the snow that would get in the way of drivers. And while it did that job for a while, it seems as though it got sick of it and decided to build its own snow angle instead. The only problem? This snow plough soon got stuck in its own creation.
Oh, the Irony

Oh, the irony! Let's hope this snow plough got help to get out. Otherwise, it would have been stuck there all winter, waiting for the snow to melt before it could be released.

Gone Fishin'

If you've ever seen the movie Transformers, you may have come out of the movie theater wondering if vehicles really are sentient beings with real wants and needs. And looking at this picture, we can't help but think it might be true! This tractor had obviously had enough of ploughing the fields and seeing the same flat ground for weeks on end. So, it took itself off to the forest for a dip in the lake.

When its farmer found out, he wasn't too impressed. But we have a feeling that he probably needed a little bit more than just a small bit of rope to pull it out.

"What Do We Have Here, Then? "

Before we saw all of these tractor fails, we thought these vehicles were indestructible. After all, they're so big and robust! But it seems as though bigger isn't always better, as these farmers in Thailand realized for themselves. Although they wanted to use their big red tractor to complete their chores for the day, their plan was thwarted when they got thoroughly stuck in the mud. And they seemed a little confused about it.

You can tell the guy on the right is wondering what the heck he can do to get his tractor out of this sticky spot. But what can you do? Tractors are heavy, people.

Tractor Pile-Up

If you live in a busy town or city, you're probably used to traffic. You might spend hours of each day stuck staring at the bumper of the car in front of you, and you probably think that's just a normal way of life. But in the agricultural world, traffic jams are pretty rare - unless you get a tractor pile-up like this one. Let's hope they swapped insurance details.

We're not sure how this happened, but what we do know is that tractors shouldn't really be on their sides like that. Especially down a tiny country lane with absolutely no maneuvering space.

The Missing Link

If we're being totally honest, this might be one of the most poetic photographs we have ever seen. Somehow, in the midst of these pixels, we can sense the sadness in this tractor's windshield wipers, and we can sense just how upset it is to be staring down at the tire that it had been missing for so long. And while we didn't think we'd ever be moved by a picture of a tractor, here we are.
The Missing Link
Reddit
Of course, we know this is a tractor fail. But we can't help but think that it's a tractor win, too. After all, tractor and tire have been reunited at last!

Hard Work Is Never Done

The agriculture industry is tough, and you need to have a thick skin to work as a farmer. But we guess this dog has it - or it's relying on its 8th cup of coffee to get it through the hard graft. Whatever the case, it didn't think twice about hopping onto its tractor and getting on with its day. With fields to plough and vegetables to be sown, the dog needed to crack on.
Hard Work Is Never Done

It looks pretty tired, too. But at least it knows that at the end of a long day, it can curl up in front of the fire with a delicious meal in front of it. Bliss!

Oh Snow You Don't

If you're used to living in snowy conditions during the winter months, you'll know that the snow can bring everything to a standstill. Of course, most tractors and large, heavy machinery can plough through the snow with no problems - but the smaller vehicles often struggle. Don't believe us? Just look at this guy! He managed to get himself stuck in a snowbank, and we don't think he'll be getting out anytime soon.

It seems as though this guy is determined to get out of the snow, though. Either that or he's just going to sit out the winter and wait for the snow to melt.

Digging a Tractor Grave

Before today, we had no idea where tractors were sent to die. But we guess this picture provides the answer! And while this tractor grave was probably extremely big and took a while to dig, it still wasn't quite big enough. Half of the tractor is sticking out of the ground as though it doesn't quite want to go to tractor heaven. Or maybe it's raising itself from the dead?
Digging a Tractor Grave
www.reddit.com
Whatever the case, let's just hope that this tractor was buried alone. We don't want any half-dead skeletons coming out of the ground alongside it, after all. That would be creepy.

Not Going Anywhere

While tractors quite often haul trailers, they don't do that all the time. Sometimes, cars can pull trailers, too! And not only that, cars can pull trailers that are hauling tractors! Yes, it seems as though this car was hauling precious cargo on this occasion and had to make sure that it was strapped down nice and tight for the journey. The last thing you want is a rogue tractor on the road.
Not Going Anywhere

We can only assume that this toy tractor is extremely important to a kid out there, so hats off to the parents for making sure it got to its next destination safely.

Crash Landing

If you thought tractors were only used for agriculture, you were wrong. It turns out that there are so many people around the world who love to go tractor racing - and they put their heart and soul into building the best tractors for the job. But while they could spend months choosing the best parts and machinery to go into this tractor, that doesn't mean that they're going to drive it well.
Crash Landing
www.youtube.com
Although this guy painstakingly built this tractor from the ground up, that didn't stop him from taking a tumble and making a very impressive crash landing. Let's hope he wasn't hurt!

Going, Going, Gone

Tractors are pretty impressive vehicles, so we can understand why this tractor leaning up on its back is drawing a crowd. In fact, we bet those onlookers were taking bets as this photo was being taken! We're sure some were placing their bets that the tractor would fall forward, while others were placing their bets that the tractor would fall backwards. But none of them realized that there was a flaw in their thinking.
Going, Going, Gone
m.youtube.com
We don't know if you can spot them, but there's a pair of legs coming out the back of the tractor - and they definitely don't look like the driver's legs! So, we're going to call this one a false start.

Calling for Backup

You have to be careful when you're handling heavy machinery like tractors, bulldozers, trailers, and more. And while most farmers and those working in the agriculture industry know how to work these vehicles, that doesn't stop them from being involved in freak accidents. And this tractor not only turned over during a crash, but it also caught on fire at the same time! That really was a bad day at the office.
Calling for Backup
www.flickr.com
Of course, it didn't take long for the fire department to come along and help. But, when the fire had gone out, there was nothing else they could do but stand back and wonder what was going to happen next.

Got a Headache?

A tractor and a car drive into a river... No, that's not the start of a joke! That's actually what happened when these two vehicles had a collision. But this wasn't just any collision. We're not sure how, but somehow, they managed to both turn up on their side and hang off the side of a bridge. And we bet the people inside had a bit of a headache after that.
Got a Headache?
Twitter
Of course, we hope that all involved were safe and unharmed, but you do have to question how this happened in the first place. Tractors are super heavy, after all!

Stronger Than Steel

We definitely can't class ourselves as tractor experts, but one thing we do know for sure is that tractors are incredibly heavy. Not only are they made of strong and sturdy materials, but they're also solidly built. And, because of this, we'd like to think that tractors couldn't be ripped cleanly into two separate parts - but this image seems to suggest otherwise! Did Thor come along and do this?
Stronger Than Steel
Facebook
We don't know what kind of beef the superhero had with this tractor, but he obviously didn't like it being in one whole piece. That was a bad day for the tractor.

Bridging the Gap

Okay, so this might not be a tractor, fail but it's close enough, right? It's most definitely a fail, anyway. These vehicles are normally meant to help in the construction business, and the whole idea is that they're supposed to help build things that won't fall down. But what happens when a scoop vehicle does the complete opposite and accidentally tears down a perfectly good bridge? Well, we think someone definitely got in trouble.
Bridging the Gap
m.youtube.com
To make matters even worse, the driver of this scoop vehicle managed to get the mechanical arm stuck in the concrete in the process! It's no wonder they ditched the vehicle and went home for the day.

Liar, Liar, Tractor on Fire

Working in the world of agriculture can't be easy, and we bet farmers rely on their tools and their vehicles a lot. Without them, they wouldn't be able to plough the fields and collect their crops. And that's exactly why they probably don't want them to catch on fire in the middle of a working day! But that's exactly what happened when this farmer was going about their daily chores.
Liar, Liar, Tractor on Fire
m.youtube.com
While we're sure some vehicle fires can be repairable, we have a feeling that this was probably a bit too far gone. Those flames are big, and that smoke is billowing!

A Balancing Act

You probably don't need us to tell you that most tractors are back-heavy. Not only do these vehicles have giant tires at the back, but they're almost always pulling something behind them in a trailer, too. And while this normally isn't too much of a problem... sometimes this happens! Yes, that guy is quite literally stuck in place, unable to move because his back-heavy tractor is even more back-heavy than usual.
A Balancing Act
www.youtube.com
Let's hope this farmer had a friend (or ten) nearby who were able to sit up front with him to balance the whole thing out like a see-saw. Otherwise, he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Pimp My Tractor

Do you remember when you used to watch Pimp My Ride, and the mechanics would make the cars bounce up and down? Of course, there's no real need to have this feature on a car, but some people absolutely love to incorporate hydraulics into the whip. And we guess the same can be said for those in the tractor community. In fact, this farmer wanted to pimp his own tractor with these same type of hydraulics!
Pimp My Tractor
www.youtube.com
While we'd love to say this was true, we're totally kidding. We don't think this farmer chose to do this at all, and we think this is a tractor mistake gone very, very wrong. We'd love to know how they got out of it, though.

Digging Too Deep

We've seen quite a few back-heavy tractors succumb to the excess weight on the back of their vehicles, but it seems as though this tractor had the opposite problem! While trying to dig a hole, it dug a little too far forward, tipping over the whole nose of the tractor in the process. But we guess the one saving grace in this situation is that the bucket on the front cushioned the fall and stoped it from nose-planting the ground.
Digging Too Deep
kattrak.com
And while this is definitely a tractor fail, at least the person driving this tractor didn't have to get a face-full of glass on the way down. They probably just got a little bump on the nose.
